What Is Domain Rating (DR)?
Domain Rating is an Ahrefs metric that measures the strength of a website's backlink profile on a scale from 0 to 100. It's calculated based on the quantity and quality of external backlinks pointing to a domain. A higher DR indicates a stronger backlink profile, which generally correlates with better search engine rankings.
DR uses a logarithmic scale, meaning each point becomes exponentially harder to earn. Going from DR 20 to 30 is significantly easier than going from DR 60 to 70. While Google doesn't use DR directly as a ranking factor, the underlying signals that drive DR — quality backlinks from authoritative sites — are among Google's strongest ranking signals.
